Getting Nathan to write this blog has taken months! He has wanted to do it but just hasn’t been able to get his thoughts around how to start. He also thinks he can’t write well enough, which we have been trying to assure him he can!
I have helped by setting up a few general questions for him to answer. Excuse the spelling as I didn’t want to correct too much. We are working on spelling, but this has been an ongoing battle for him throughout his school life. Our theory is – we would rather he writes, than thinks he always gets it wrong so whats the point. We don’t want to stifle his creativity!
The below is all his own thoughts and views – he wanted it that way! Enjoy his first blog, our hope is that it will be the first of many!
If you can leave him a comment that would be a great!
What is it like living on a boat?
Living on a boat is very difrent to living in a house. The difrens is it is way funer, when we are at ankor you can swim with fish and dolpins and even sharks. You can get sea sick is the only bad part, but that is only when you move far. I love seeing the new places.
Is there anything you miss about living on land?
Not realy. I miss my frends but we can still watch moovies and play tag with our frends and watch youtube. I miss my dog.
..
What has been your favourite place so far and why?
It was the Tabago cays because the wild life was amasing!!!!!!!!!! I swam with turtls and sharks. The beach was also good and the water so blue.
What is it like to cross an ocean?
It is hard to sleep because of the noise and if you are sea sick, but during the day it is amazing watching the flying fish skim across the water. The time gos very quick.
Which was your best school trip and why?
My favrot school trip was the waterfall in martenik (Martinique) because you climb laders and swim in deep waters to get to the waterfall. I learnt about how the water carves through rock as the river was very deep in the rock with no sides. It was fun to walk up the river and get to the waterfall.
I also liked the volcano trips, except the rotten egg smell! We have seen lots of difrent types of volcanos.
Tell us about the new friends you have made and what type of things you do with them everyday?
I have loads of new frends. During the coroner virus we mostly scoot and cycle and rollerbladed. It is super easy to make frends on a boat as all the kids want to play!! My frends come from Spain, Canada, USA, Norway and Sweden. I am learning spanish and sometimes French. I am also learning how to talk American – y’all!
How do you like to help out on the boat?
I mostly like to skwees (squeeze) into small spaces that is why I am called the powder monkey. My dad needs me to go and get things from all kinds of places. I am not sure how he will sail when I get big! I also help with cleaning, and making bread. I don’t like doing the dishes at all!!!!!
How is school going?
It is ok. It is more fun to do it with sombody else so you can workout the answer together. I prefer doing school trips, but I don’t like writing about them. I like learning science, and doing xperiments. When we are doing long sails I always have to do lots of school.
What has been your best experience so far?
Everything has been my best so far. On a boat you can experience anything you want as you can sail to different countries and places!!!!! I love everywhere we go as I get to see new things.
What do you eat on the boat?
The pizza I make is amasing. So is the frozen yogurt and RIBS!!!!!!! We eat a lot of pasta and i help make bread. When we have fresh fruit we make yummy smoothies. We don’t get many sweets as there are not many to buy at the shops we go to. When we get sweets I love it! We also have lots of BBQ’s, sometimes i help cook.
I really like my life on Mokara. I think I will sail around the world a few times when I am older. I have already chosen my boat – its a dragonfly trimaran.
