We’re finally here in Las Palmas after a long bumpy journey from Lanzarote. Arriving in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria was awesome it was the start of a whole new adventure. As we were coming into the marina we were amazed at how many boats had the ARC flag raised it must have been almost the whole marina.
Whilst docking we were welcomed by our good friends on sailing yacht Bounty, this was nice because then we had some other children to play with. A day later our friends on Y KNOT arrived which we were very happy about too. We were surprised at how many boats were coming into the marina but none were coming out.
I was very excited about the next day as we would be doing optimist sailing. At kids club we met some more friends on Vaki Vaki and Colette. For the next day all of us would be doing kids club together – it was awesome!

Throughout the week we played together and hung out on each others boats. This was great because you could almost never be bored as you were always playing board games or playing tag up and down the docks. Eventually the departure day came. Mum had provisioned (it was heaven as it was the most food I had seen in my entire life.) We said goodbye to all our friends and then at noon we left. What an amazing feeling as we were being cheered on by the crowds. And then 5 minutes later we crossed the start line.

The first few days went well we were going at a speed of around 6 knots and we were having a nice downwind sail with either the spinnaker or the code 0 during the day and our genoa during the night. We managed to catch around 4 fish 1 tuna and 3 Mahi Mahi we lost one and we did not know that it was. I felt a little sea sick 5 days in.
We had dolphins jumping at the bow and whales breaching 50 meters away from us. The swell was really weak it was almost flat. This was cool however the fact that we had this for another two weeks was settling in for me and Nathan but at the time it did not feel too long.

The second week was pretty similar with the code 0 and the spinnaker and genoa at night. During this week we had some good sailing and got our top speed. We caught 4 mahi mahi and lost 3 fish. We had no wild life which was pretty disappointing we were hoping later on we would see some more things. The swell was 4-5 meters and we were surfing the waves a lot. At this time we started to get a little bored and just wanted to get there so we could enjoy the Caribbean and swim. We could not swim in the middle of the Atlantic as the swell was too high so it would have been too hard to swim. But we were liking doing the watches.
On the final week we really wanted to get there as most of my friends had been there already as they were a few days before us so were really wanted to go and see them as we had not seen each other In he week such a long time. So we really were excited to get there. When we first saw land it was amazing as it showed us that we were closer. We caught 2 mahi mahi 1 yellowfin tuna 1 barracuda and lost 1 fish. On the last day of the week we finally arrived In Rodney Bay, St Lucia.

We were welcomed with a nice cold drink and all our friends and my grandparents waiting there for us and congratulating us. It was a really good feeling seeing all my friends again. Collette arrived 2 hours after us and then we all went out for dinner.
It felt so good finally being in the Caribbean and the crossing finally being over so we could just play with our friends.
